German software giant SAP is offering deep discounts to customers currently running customer relationship management (CRM) software from rival Siebel, following Oracle’s acqusition of Siebel. The move offers companies a way to migrate to SAP with up to 75% of their Siebel license fees applied towards software from SAP.
While these are serious discounts, they are highly targeted to certain prospects. They have an inherent reason to be “one time only.” And since license fee growth is slowing, companies are hoping to build share and milk service and maintenance revenue.
