I’ve been meaning to write about some good pricing examples, and I found one at the airport yesterday morning (way too early).
The menu read something like this:
2 Breakfast Tacos (Egg, Cheese & Potato).……6.69
2 Breakfast Tacos with Bacon ……………………..7.49
2 Breakfast Tacos with Coffee ……………………..7.99
2 Breakfast Tacos with Bacon & Coffee ………..8.59
1 Breakfast Taco ……………………………..………….3.45
(egg, cheese, potato)
(egg, cheese, beans)
(egg, potato, bacon)
It took me a little while (especially at 6 in the morning, and pre-coffee) to realize that what I really wanted (1 breakfast taco) was even available. This might not be a good strategy outside the airport, but travelers rushing to get some grub before sitting in a tin can with nothing to eat but pretzels are not the pickiest bunch. I’m guessing that this menu leads to a higher average order price than a menu like this:
1 Breakfast Taco
(egg, cheese, potato)……………………………………3.45
(egg, cheese, beans)…………………….………………3.45
(egg, potato, bacon) ………………………..………….3.45
2 Breakfast Tacos (Egg, Cheese & Potato).……6.69
2 Breakfast Tacos with Bacon ……………………..7.49
2 Breakfast Tacos with Coffee ……………………..7.99
2 Breakfast Tacos with Bacon & Coffee ………..8.59
I wanted to ask the manager about the price presentation on the menu, but my flight was already boarding. On another trip…
